I have always been interested in the visual arts, having taken summer classes at what was then California College of Arts and Crafts as a young teen as well as high school art classes and rec center pottery classes. It was not until I took a woodcarving class in my late 20’s that I realized I had a knack for and preferred sculpture over 2D art styles. Unfortunately this information had to be tabled in deference to work and raising children. As my last child entered high school I felt the time was right to explore ceramics as a sculptural medium and in 2015 I began taking classes from Clayton Thiel at Chabot College.  As a fairly new artist, my style is still evolving and is currently very eclectic. Much of my work is informed by my background in Anthropology and references the art of other cultures. Other pieces are based on my love of the natural world and the interesting animals therein.
